I was buying my annual pair of two-layer running socks, and the young clerk asked me if I was doing any races at the upcoming National Capital Race Weekend.
“I’m doing the marathon again,” I said.
“Was it fun last year?” she chirped.
Fun?!
“A marathon is not fun,” I replied.
Fun?! I’m now up to eight marathons, and it gets harder, not easier.
