Standing in Corral 12 that morning, with a
stomach full of butterflies and a smile so big it seemed to bounce off
of those around her, was a very enthusiastic girl ready to run her
second-ever marathon. Surrounded by hundreds of other nervous, excited
runners my age, I wouldn't have been nearly so noticeable had I not also
been wearing the costume of my childhood hero, Wonder Woman.
On a poster given out to all participants,
Adidas summed up the Boston marathon as "Everything you ever needed to
know about yourself you will learn in 26.2 miles."
